the Zahir

i finished “the Zahir”, a book written by Paulo Coelho. it says on the cover that it is a book about obssession, obssession of a man to find a woman who disappeared without a single word: his wife of ten years. at first, he didnt want to believe the fact she may simply have left him. he got himself worried that she may have been kidnapped or tortured or something. but all the evidences pointed out the only thing he’s afraid to accept.

what i dont understand about the story was that he was the one left behind. for heaven’s sake, why cant he move on? he became obssessed of knowing why she left, of seeing her, of clearing things with her. this went on and on until i can almost feel his pain bleeding through the pages of the book. it was even better if she said that she no longer wanted him so that he would not be left hanging. he even practiced himself to saying his ‘ex-wife’ when referring to her but he just could not get used to it.

the injustice of it all…while he was struggling to find himself in order to find his wife, there she was in love with someone else..(its as i understood it)..she even got herself pregnant…when he learned this, (yes he went all the way to where she was for he loved her so), he laughed even though his heart was breaking.

i could not get over the tears…
